Our history

CPR coffee premium roast  is Marlborough’s boutique coffee roasting company.

Established in 2003, CPR, Marlborough’s first coffee roasting business, began life in a small warehouse, doing the hard yards perfecting the art of roasting, and developing our award winning signature espresso blend Accelerator. We moved into our current roastery CPR HQ in downtown Wynen Street, Blenheim,  in 2007. At the roastery, we also created our first Coffee-To-Go format store.

In 2009 we launched CPR Airshop, a cafe and retail concept at Blenheim Airport .

February 2012 saw the opening of CPR Espress at Stadium 2000, teaming up with Gellicious Gelato to offer the ultimate in hot and cool combos!

After a decade of roasting and producing Marlborough’s boutique coffee, CPR’s original owners, Christina Mackay and Bill Musgrove sold the business to another local couple, Leon and Hayley Macdonald, in November 2012. In November 2015 the business changed hands to the current owners, Marlborough locals Deborah and Domenic Romano.

Now the CPR Coffee 2015 Company Limited, we continue providing great service and great coffee through our own 3 CPR outlets, and to an increasing number of wholesale and retail customers throughout New Zealand. First and foremost, we are coffee roasters.

Awards

It’s time to stand up and be counted, CPR coffee premium roast has won awards from Cafe magazine, Marlborough’s Best cafe 2004, 2006, 2007, with CPR HQ winning runner up 2008, Best Cafe (Wild Tomato magazine 2007). At the New Zealand Coffee Awards, CPR coffee has picked up silver and bronze awards in 2005, 2012 and 2013.

 

The CPR Factor:

The hands on roasting and post blending process ensures that each single origin is roasted to produce their individual taste prior to blending. Regular cupping ensures the consistency of the production roasts.
